Chiropractor Erik Schutt D.C.
Dr. Erik Schutt graduated from the prestigious Palmer College of Chiropractic where he received recognition for superior clinical proficiency. Dr. Schutt is a licensed Chiropractor and board certified Physiotherapist serving the Tempe, Scottsdale, Phoenix, Mesa and Chandler communities.
Prior to studying at Palmer, he attended Oakland University in Rochester, MI. Dr. Schutt has done extensive postgraduate work in the research and science of Chiropractic. Dr. Schutt, in his 6 years of practice, has already made over 70,000 patient adjustments and has changed the lives of thousands. He is also very knowledgeable in exercise science, weight loss, nutrition and how to live a healthy lifestyle. Dr. Schutt recently moved to Tempe, AZ from Michigan. Since he began practicing chiropractic, Dr. Schutt has kept up to date on many
continuing educational classes, ensuring that his patients receive the most comprehensive and advanced chiropractic care.
Dr. Schutt uses a "whole person approach". This approach to wellness means looking for underlying causes of any disturbance or disruption (which may or may not be causing symptoms at the time) and make whatever interventions and lifestyle adjustments that would optimize the conditions for normal function. Using this unique approach, Dr. Schutt is able to help you to accelerate and/or maintain your journey to good health.
Dr. Schutt loves treating a wide range of patients. From infants with ear infections to seniors with chronic back pain wanting to maintain their independence, Dr. Schutt enjoys the unique challenges in helping achieve each individual patient goal.
Mr. Schwartzenegger is a large proponent of chiropractic care as he himself experienced the benefits of it since the beginning of his body building career. Dr. Schutt also enjoys bodybuilding and working with athletes of all levels.
Kathleen Burke - Acupuncturist
After graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Public Relations and Communications from the University of Nebraska, Kathleen spent three years in Peru, teaching English. Living within the Peruvian culture and enduring a major illness sparked her interest in holistic medicine and ancient healing practices.
Upon returning to the States, Kathleen immediately began to seek out many types of healing practices and books on the topic until she discovered acupuncture. As she began to heal deeply from this age old medicine she started to explore the possibility of becoming an acupuncturist and doors just opened up for her. In 2003 Kathleen earned a Masters of Acupuncture degree from the Northwest Institute of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NIAOM) in Seattle, Washington.
During her last year of acupuncture school she discovered a gentle form of Japanese Acupuncture, called Toyohari developed within the tradition of Meridian Therapy by blind acupuncturists in Japan. The system excels in the development of Qi sensitivity required for accurate point-location, abdominal diagnosis and subtle non-insertive needling techniques. She chose to double up her last year of school and attended weekend trainings every month and by the time she opened her private practice she was certified by the International Toyohari Association. She continues to attend Toyohari trainings in the USA and Japan to refine her skills in this powerful healing modality.
Kathleen had a busy private practice in Seattle for twelve years where she loved working in an Integrative medicine model philosophy; one which treats the whole person on all levels – physical, emotional, behavioral, environmental, soul and spiritual levels. This intention follows her all the way to Phoenix, Arizona where she now resides.
In her free time she enjoys meditating, hiking, yoga, nutrition and spending time with her husband and tuxedo cat, Mojo.
Melisa - Billing Specialist
Melisa is our Billing Specialist. She is 27 years old, married, with three beautiful children. Her and her family enjoy camping and family movie nights. She completed her Associates in Medical Billing and Coding in December, 2013, two months after her mother passed away from Ovarian Cancer. Her mother was her inspiration for going back to school and getting her degree. To quote Melisa “Finding Extreme Health Chiropractic and becoming part of the Team has been a blessing. I have found a place that has a little of everything that I love. Extreme Health Chiropractic has a positive, caring atmosphere that helps people feel better. It also has the fast pace environment that I crave, that also allows me to apply me education. I am able to work very flexible hours that allows me to be the mother that I need to be. I believe I have found where I fit in at Extreme Health Chiropractic."
Shelly - Office Manager
Shelly comes to us with a strong retail and chiropractic office management background. Her 15 years of experience in chiropractic forges a path of teamwork for the rest of our staff. She skillfully supports the doctor and teaches the public internally and externally about the body’s ability to heal itself through chiropractic care.
Her passion for chiropractic wellness began with her own son’s health challenges in the mid 90’s. He struggled on the autistic spectrum after reacting to a round of vaccinations administered at 18months of age. Born a very normal, bright, energetic and happy baby, after the vaccinations, within 30 days, he began exhibiting autistic symptoms. He lost his focus, his spark, and his personality. Early developmental milestones were delayed and primary school years were challenging. At age 9, after attempting to manage his behaviors through medication, she found chiropractic. It was a last resort.
At that time he was in a special class at school 95% of his day. After the 1st week of chiropractic adjustments, his focus, behaviors, and personality dramatically improved and over the next few weeks returned to near normal. Within the first month he was off all medication and was able to return to the regular classroom setting with his neighborhood friends. At 27 he still enjoys improved health through chiropractic care. With such powerful results, she and her other 2 children, (then 7 and 3), began treatment. Her younger son had just finished yet another round of antibiotics for chronic ear infections. From his very first chiropractic treatment, he NEVER had another ear infection and would NEVER take another antibiotic. He is now 25 years old. Her youngest has NEVER taken an antibiotic and is now 21.
So, chiropractic is a lifestyle choice for Shelly and her family. As a result, she chose to leave her retail management career to pursue chiropractic full time. We are extremely fortunate to have Shelly’s experience training our staff, managing our office, and supporting our patient’s own health pursuits through chiropractic care.
Shelly and her husband Mark live in Mesa and enjoy a blended family of 7 grown children, and a granddaughter.
Yuna - Massage Therapist
Hey, my name's Yuna and I'm the massage therapist for Extreme Health Chiropractic! When I was in high school I had a friend who would give me little massages, and I thought it was so cool so I had her teach me. Eventually I started massaging everyone because I liked helping people feel better and had a special way with it.
Straight out of high school I went to an open house for the Arizona School of Massage Therapy, and immediately decided I wanted to go there. I learned Anatomy, Pathology, different massage types and even some business lessons. When it was all said and done, I had earned my massage license at the age of 19. I like all my patients and like to talk to them about what's going on in their life, and I really believe in the work we do at Extreme Health. It has a great vibe to it and I plan to be here a long time.
